Bridgewater Housing Association is a registered social landlord based in Erskine. We manage 860 mainstream, sheltered and extra care properties, together with 500 lock up garages and provide a factoring service to 2600 owner occupiers. We also manage the largest Care & Repair service in Scotland covering Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde.

We are looking for a self-motivated, competent Small Repair Worker to work within our Care & Repair Team, to deliver a high-quality small repairs service for older and disabled homeowners and private tenants, mainly in Inverclyde, although there may be a requirement to deliver the service in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire from time to time. Key duties will include:

  • Provide a comprehensive small repairs service to our clients. This comprises establishing trusting relationships, providing technical advice and carrying out joinery, minor electrical/plumbing, safety/security works and general repairs
  • Assist Project staff in the planning of appointments and scheduling of repairs
  • Assist Project staff in the procurement of appropriate materials from suppliers and keep accurate records of those purchased, stored and used
  • Ensure completion and submission of accurate daily work sheets
  • Liaising with interdependencies to report other existing or potential client health/property problems
  • Undertake responsibility for the security and maintenance of all tools and equipment provided for the role
  • Undertake security and cleanliness of the supplied van and advise the Project Manager of the need for arranging servicing, maintenance, repairs, etc. Keep accurate mileage records and fuel receipts
  • Accurately manage cash float including acceptance of cash payments, issue of change and preparation of receipts
  • Undertake responsibility for your own health and safety and advise the Project Manager of any issues which arise

The successful candidate will:

  • Be time served in a technical discipline (Joinery/Electrical/Plumbing).
  • Have excellent, effective communication and people skills with a positive outlook and commitment to our vulnerable clients.
  • Show initiative and take ownership of unforeseen issues and problems which may arise.
  • Have competent IT Skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering positive outcomes and high satisfaction levels.

A Driving licence is required for this permanent post, which will be subject to a Basic Disclosure Check.

This role is based in the community, carrying out small repairs in clients’ homes. Small Repairs Workers will attend the office on agreed dates for team/all staff/ one to one meetings.
